Only debate of 2014 Governor's race airs Wednesday evening

Four of the candidates running for Governor of New York will be participating in a debate shown on public television. Tune into WMHT TV October 22, 2014 at 8pm.

Democrat Andrew Cuomo, Republican Rob Astorino, Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins and the Libertarian Party’s Michael McDermott will appear together  in the one hour debate,  the only televised candidate contest of the 2014 governor’s race.

Watchdog warns against ed Bond Act

The November ballot includes a proposal for the state to borrow $2 billion dollars to spend on technology for school children, like computer tables.  A fiscal watchdog group says it’s not a good way to finance the purchase of I-Pads.
 
The bond act would give New York State permission to borrow $2 billion dollars, primarily to invest in new technology for students in elementary and secondary schools, including I-Pads and other tablets.  It would also include money for building more classrooms for expanded pre kindergarten.

Cuomo light on details for next four years

In the final weeks before elections, Governor Cuomo has been promoting his memoir, and has announced travel plans to Puerto Rico. One thing he hasn’t been doing is running a typical campaign. And he’s said little about what he’ll do in the next four years.

Cuomo's new women's political party serves multiple purposes

Governor Cuomo is making women’s rights a central focus of his campaign, focusing on an abortion rights provision. The issue serves multiple purposes for the governor.

Twice now, Governor Cuomo boarded a bus with his running mate Kathy Hochul, and several other leading female politicians, and rode to rallies upstate in New York City and Long Island.
